Nationwide Commercial Claims General Property Adjuster (Midwest - Ohio to California) in United States
*This position will be work from home, ideally located in the Midwest (Ohio to California), supporting the Commercial Property Claims Department, reporting to Sam Crunkleton.
*Ideal candidate will possess experience in the following:-Extensive property adjusting, Xactimate certified (preferably level 2 or 3 certification)-Possible interactions and dealings with government entities (permits, EPA, OSHA)-Negotiating with public adjusters and attorneys-3+ years of commercial large loss claims handling and/or previous GA claims handling-Knowledge of Nationwide Claims Best Practices, ability to work through complex claims scenarios, multiple coverages, strong working knowledge of commercial policies and commercial coverages, ability to travel up to 3 weeks a month, detail oriented, and well organized-In addition, selected candidate will be required (if not already) to become licensed.
- Participates in complex litigated and non-litigated claims and provides technical assistance and consultation to state/regional leadership and claim associates. Adheres to high standards of professional conduct while providing the delivery of superior claims service support. Required to handle 500K and above losses, complex coverage, high profile and severity losses as requested regardless of dollar exposure. These losses are throughout the country requiring extensive travel and overnight stays.2. Conducts on-site field investigations and/or field re-inspections of large exposure commercial claims. Coordinate rebuilding of Commercial Building damages with contractors, various trades and architects.3. Provides reserve analysis to ensure timely and accurate case reserves in accordance with Best Claims Practices.4. Maintains current knowledge of: assigned insurance lines; court decisions which may impact the claims function; current guidelines in the claims function; and policy changes and modifications. This may require attendance at various seminars or training session.5. Serve as a mentor for selected Large Loss and Cored Associates to develop Commercial Property technical and building knowledge.6. Creates and analyzes severe incident reports, reinsurance reports and other information to home office, claims management, and underwriting.7. Leads or serves on various project teams as assigned based on business need.8. Assist Underwriting and Products in the review and development of new or existing policy language.9. Write a paper on a Commercial Property topic and act as the SME on the subject matter.10. Participate in Commercial Technical School training classes, initiatives and course creation.11. Participate in Quality Assurance reviews.12. Provides advice, counsel, and training to field operations.13. Recommends various methods of dispute resolution and settlement in those cases where warranted.14. Delivers a positive On-Your-Side customer service experience to all internal, external, current and prospective Nationwide customers.15. Performs re-inspections for the Technical Office as requested.16. Participate in CAT events as requested by the Technical and or Field Office.17. Provides superior service to our CL Customers.18. Other duties as assigned.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Education: Undergraduate degree or post-graduate studies preferred.License/Certification: State licensing where required. Successful completion of required/applicable claims certification training/classes.Experience: Ten of years Commercial Large Loss or General Adjuster. May substitute for commensurate Commercial Construction experience. Field management experience preferred.Knowledge: Requires superior knowledge of Commercial Property insurance operations, field and staff functions, industry trends, and project management. Proven superior knowledge of best claims practices used to resolve the most serious and complex injury and property commercial claims. Proven knowledge of insurance contracts, and familiar with court proceedings affecting legal liability for all lines of insurance. Knowledge of claims systems. Commercial building construction.Proven technical knowledge of Commercial building construction, strong comprehension of HVACR, knowledge of electrical and plumbing plus contents management skills.Understands business interruption loss management.Ability to operate various claims systems and related software. Must be able to climb ladders, balance at various heights, stoop, bend and/or crawl to inspect vehicles and structures. Must be able to work out-of-doors in all types of weather. Must be able and willing to work irregular hours and to travel with possible overnight requirements. May be on-call.
